Convo: Learn Languages · Intuitive Workz Inc. · last updated October 5, 2026
Convo needs to process what you say so a tutor can reply and so your pronunciation can be scored. This page explains exactly what leaves your iPhone, who handles it, and what is kept. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking.
What stays on your iPhone
- Your voice during conversations. Speech is turned into text on your iPhone using Apple's on-device speech recognition.
- Your history: past sessions, corrections, saved phrases, streaks, and settings are stored only on your device. Deleting the app deletes them.
What is sent, and why
- Conversation text. The text of what you said, the recent conversation, and a short running summary are sent to our server, which forwards them to Anthropic (the Claude AI model) to write the tutor's next reply and any corrections. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, this data is not used to train its models.
- Tutor speech. The text of the tutor's replies is sent to Microsoft Azure AI Speech to turn it into a natural-sounding voice.
- Pronunciation clips. To check your pronunciation, short recordings of what you say (up to 15 seconds each) are sent through our server to Microsoft Azure AI Speech for scoring: the phrases you practice in the pronunciation spotlight and, while the sound check is on, each line you speak in a conversation. Our server does not store them; each is discarded once its score comes back. You can turn the conversation sound check off in Convo's Settings.
- An anonymous app ID. On first launch Convo creates a random identifier and keeps it in your iPhone's keychain. It is not linked to your name, email, or Apple Account. We use it, together with Apple's App Attest service, to confirm requests come from a genuine copy of the app and to apply fair-use limits.
- Subscription status. Subscriptions are sold by Apple. The app sends us Apple's signed record of your subscription (which plan, when it renews or expires, and a random purchase token) so we can unlock Premium. We never see your payment details. Apple's privacy policy covers the purchase itself.
What our server keeps
- Your anonymous app ID, your subscription status, and usage counters (such as how many sessions you started today), so limits and Premium work.
- Per-request cost records (which feature was used, how many words and seconds were processed, and the estimated cost) with no conversation text, no audio, and no app ID.
- To save cost and make the tutor respond faster, generic tutor sentences (for example "What size would you like?") may be stored as audio for up to 90 days and reused for everyone. Sentences that could contain personal details, such as names or numbers, are never stored.
We do not store your conversation text or your recordings. Our service providers process data only to provide their service to us: Cloudflare (hosting), Anthropic (tutor replies), and Microsoft (speech scoring and the tutor's voice). Each may keep data briefly under its own terms for security and abuse prevention.
Your choices
- Microphone and speech recognition access can be turned off at any time in the Settings app. Convo cannot run conversations without them.
- Delete the app to remove everything stored on your device. To ask us to delete the server records tied to your anonymous app ID, email us and we will walk you through it. Because those records contain no name or contact details, we may need a few details from the app to find them.
Children
Convo is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If our practices change, this page will be updated before the app does, with a new date at the top.
